Dr. Gary Lum

Dr. Gary Lum is a Bay Area native, having spent practically his entire life here. Dr. Lum grew up in San Francisco and attended UC Davis. As a child, Dr. Lum has always dreamed of a career in astronomy and actually entered college as a physics major. However, after spending a few summers in college volunteering at local dental offices, Dr. Lum was fascinated with the profession. After earning his degree in physiology, he returned to the Bay Area and went on to UCSF to study dentistry. At UCSF, Dr. Lum was under the tutelage of some of the most prominent names in the profession. They were so influential on him that after graduating, Dr. Lum remained at UCSF as a clinical faculty member, training other young dentists before going exclusively into private practice.

As a dedicated lifelong learner, Dr. Lum’s philosophy is that one’s learning never ends with graduation and it’s a philosophy he always instilled upon his students. Dr. Lum has taken many hours of continuing dental education to stay on top of the latest, cutting edge procedures and techniques. He practices all facets of dentistry ranging from placing dental implants to performing Invisalign. It is this love of learning that keeps him excited to come in to work every day. In his free time, Dr. Lum spends his free time playing with his son, Matthew and daughter, Marissa. Though no one in the office has seen it, Dr. Lum is one of the few collectors of Mariah Carey’s blockbuster movie ”Glitter”.
